More than two years after the start of lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rotary District 3800 headed by their Imaginative Amazing Treasure Governor Arturo “Bobby” Tanyag has brought back its inter-zone sports fest, dubbed as the PalaROTARY (Palaro ala Rotary).

Sports are a vital part of any human being’s existence since they maintain them physically strong, healthy, and fit. It is very significant at every stage of life. Additionally, it enhances people’s personalities. Playing sports daily helps our hearts become stronger and keeps all of our organs functioning properly.

People compete or participate in sports at Sports Fest, possibly for trophies or awards. It is a venue where individuals can display their talents in a variety of sporting events.

The sports fest’s main objective is to encourage teamwork, athleticism, and good sportsmanship in the community, especially among young people. It also aims to develop character and teach virtues like respect, honor, discipline, kindness, inclusivity, resilience, and perseverance.

PalaROTARY 2023 was conducted on February 5, 2023, at Marikina Sports Complex to establish camaraderie among the different clubs and zones of Rotary District 3800.  The said sports fest was hosted by the Rotary Club of Rivercity Marikina and co-hosted by the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong.

Present during the opening ceremony were Imaginative Amazing Treasure Governor Arturo “Bobby” Tanyag, District Secretaries Noel Cuico and Sherrylou Khosiking, Past District Governors, Senior Assistant Governors, Assistant Governors, and other District Officers with their spouses, and the members of the Rotary District 3800 from all eight (8) Zones including Presidents of each Rotary Clubs, Rotaract Clubs and Interact Clubs who comprised the amazing 800 attendees of the said historical event for Rotary Year 2022-2023.

The Rotary Club of Antipolo Centro also attended headed by their Imaginative Amazing Treasure President, Evelyn Datuin-Collado, and members: Hazel Ann Datuin-Florano, Darryl Myr Florano, Oskie Talosig, Rochelle Fajardo, Ana Rose Dela Cruz and her spouse, Lyla Rhose Naig with her spouse and children, Eric Gutierrez and Rotaract Club of Antipolo Centro Charter President, Samantha Nicole Collado.

Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton Mixed Doubles, Table Tennis Single Male, Table Tennis Single Female, Table Tennis Doubles, Swimming Group Mixed, and Swimming Single were among the highlight games, while group games were Tug of War, Sack Race, and Hanky Game.  The PalaROTARY also showcased some fun games like Hep-Hep Hurray, Pinoy Henyo, Guess It, Icon Edition, Minute to Win It, and of course the Cheerdance Competition.  Among all the games, Zone 5 – Rizal bagged 1st Place in the Overall Championship, another milestone for the zone.
