Antipolo City (Antipolo Maytime Festival) won a place to participate in the much-awaited Aliwan Fiesta Streetdance and Float parade Competitions set June 27 to 29 at the CCP Complex in Pasay City.

The San Isidro National High School Bukluran Dance Troupe, led by Festival Queen Eurichelle Danga, will represent Antipolo after becoming Grand Champion at the 2024 Antipolo Maytime Festival Street Dance Competition.

Aliwan Fiesta, the Philippines’ festival of champions, announced its official list of participants for this year’s much-awaited competition. The excitement builds up as representatives from across the Philippines prepare to showcase their stunning costumes, energizing choreographies, and artistic prowess.

Other contingents vying to take home the championship for this year’s Streetdance Competition are Lakbayaw Festival (City of Manila); Panagbenga Flower Festival (Baguio City); Bodong Festival (Rizal, Kalinga); Daing Festival (Sto. Tomas, La Union); Halamanan Festival (Guiguinto, Bulacan); Dinamulag Mango Festival (Iba, Zambales); Panagkakadua-an Festival (San Felipe, Zambales); Hamaka Festival (Taytay, Rizal); Niyogyugan Festival (Pagbilao, Quezon); Dinagyang Festival (Iloilo City); Tultugan Festival (Iloilo Province); Sinulog Festival (Cebu); and Meguyaya Festival (Upi, Maguindanao del Norte).

Meanwhile, participants aiming to clinch the top spot in the Float Parade Competition are Bahay Pangisdaan (Muntinlupa City); Halamanan Festival (Guiguinto, Bulacan); Republica Filipina – Fiesta Rebuplica (Malolos, Bulacan); Panagkakadua-an Festival (San Felipe, Zambales); Ilwan a Inaul sa Kutawato (Cotabato City); Guinakit (Cotabato City); Adat Betad sa Maguiranun (Mother Kabuntalan, Maguindanao del Norte); Lamin o Bidadari (Northern Kabuntalan, Maguindanao del Norte); and Lilang-Lilang (Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte).

In the Streetdance Competition, contestants will be judged based on theme/concept (35%), choreography (20%), performance (20%), costume (15%), and props (10%). The grand prize winner will receive P1.5 million, with cash prizes for runners-up as well as special awards for Pride of Place, Best Costume, and Best Musical Accompaniment.

For the Float Competition, judging criteria include craftsmanship (50%), Theme (25%), and overall impact and ingenuity (25%). The grand winner will receive P750,000, with cash prizes for runners-up.

Aliwan Fiesta 2024 is organized by the MBC Media Group (MMG) and promises an exhilarating extravaganza of music, dance, and cultural displays.
