Barangay San Jose Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman Doc Monte Tolentino called on everyone to support 2023 National Women’s Month, March 1 to 31, 2023.

Let us all be active. Let’s also use this opportunity to raise awareness sa mga hinaharap nilang pagsubok,” said Tolentino in his Facebook account.

The month-long celebration aims to raise awareness about women’s struggles for gender equality and their rights.

“Ang tema ng celebration ay ‘WE for gender equality and inclusive society.’

The observance of Women’s Month in the Philippines began in 1988 by virtue of Proclamation No. 224 proclaiming the first week of March as Women’s Week.

It has since served as a venue to highlight women’s achievements and discuss continuing and emerging women’s empowerment and gender equality issues and concerns, challenges, and commitments.

The law provides for the observance of the Month of March as ‘Women’s Role in History Month.

It emphasizes the role of Filipino women in the social, cultural, economic and political development throughout our history. It provided for a month-long nationwide observance with appropriate ceremonies and activities to be spearheaded by the Commission.
