Antipolo resident Lea Inlayo, who reached the badminton mixed doubles quarterfinals in the past Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam, received a plaque of appreciation, incentive and praise from Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares.
Mayor Ynares awarded the plaque to Inlayo even as he praised her for her achievement.
“Congratulations Lea for making Antipolo proud. Nabalitaan namin ang accomplishment mo sa SEA Games. Kaunti na lang bronze na tayo. And I am sure in the coming years, hindi lang bronze but gold pa yan sa susunod na magkita tayo,” said Mayor Ynares.
“So good luck. More power. Always have faith in yourself and of course, listen to your parents. At huwag mo pabayaan ang studies. Congratulations.”
Inlayo, who is from the University of the Philippines which she represented in badminton competitions in the Universities Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), is part of the Philippine national badminton team which represented the country in the SEA Games.
She specializes in the women’s doubles and mixed doubles events.
The message in the plaque read “in recognition of her exemplary performance and for inspiring the youth by showcasing world-class Filipino talent in the 31st Southeast Asian Games held May 12-23, 2022 at Hanoi, Vietnam.”
