Kabataan ang Bida!

The Barangay San Jose Sangguniang Kabataan Council, under the leadership of SK Chairman Monte Tolentino, launched the SK San Jose Open League basketball tournament last June 11, 2022.

The tournament – held at the Multi-Purpose covered court of Robinsons Homes, Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City – will have 13 teams from Barangay San Jose participating.

These teams include Admiral, Boss Jacque, Don Jajnoks, Dreadvast, J20 Sports Apparel, Legion, Los Kantos, Parugan, San Lorenzo, Sta. Elena, Team Puto, Tomahawk and one other.

The tournament was organized by the SK Council of Barangay San Jose in cooperation with Robinsons Homes.

Tournament Committee Head Rey Rivera said staging the tournament was a big challenge especially because of the pandemic. The SK Council had to think of ways to stage the tourney despite not having a budget to hold a basketball tournament.

“Pasalamatan po natin ang ating SK Council sa pangunguna ni SK Chairman Monte Tolentino, ang ating Barangay Chairman na si Boy Borja at ang ating minamahal na Mayor Andeng Ynares na lagi pong sumusuporta sa SK ng Barangay San Jose,” said Rivera.

The Sangguniang Kabataan was created through the Local Government Code and is meant to provide opportunities for young people to directly participate in local governance.

The main purpose of the SK is to initiate programs which are designed to enhance the social, political, economic, cultural, intellectual, moral, spiritual and physical development of the youth.
