Antipolo City Mayor-elect Jun Ynares wants everyone qualified to avail of booster shots against COVID-19.
Ynares believes that getting a booster dose can decrease your risk of infection and severe illness with COVID-19. People who have a moderately or severely weakened immune system should get an additional primary shot and a booster shot.
The Department of Health also wants the public to avail of booster shots. Over 69 million Filipinos have been vaccinated with about 14 million administered with the first booster dose. The second booster shot is available for immunocompromised, health workers and senior citizens.
Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje, who chairs the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC), warned the public to remain vigilant and get sufficient protection against COVID-19 saying, “we are not yet out of the woods.”
Cabotaje said coronavirus remains “unpredictable” with the emergence of new variants and sub variants and that the public should not let their guard down.
