Members of the Antipolo Pilgrims, who are Barangay San Jose residents, visited the Sangguniang Kabataan office of Barangay San Jose to meet with SK Chairman Doc Monte Tolentino.

The Antipolo Pilgrims ruled the recent 2023 Governor’s Cup Rizal – Intertown Basketball Tournament. Each basketball player received an incentive reward of ₱5,000 for bringing pride and honor not just to the city of Antipolo but to Barangay San Jose as well.

SK Chairman Tolentino thanked the players for the visit even as he expressed how proud he was for their achievement of winning the basketball tournament. He also congratulated Rizal Governor Nina Ynares for the successful staging of the annual basketball tournament.

“Bumisita po kamakailan sa tanggapan ng SK San Jose ang ilang kabarangay natin na miyembro ng Antipolo Pilgrims. Ang Team Antipolo ang nagwagi sa 2023 Governor’s Cup Rizal – Intertown Basketball Tournament,” said Doc Monte in his Facebook page.

“A well-deserved win! Slightly biased kasi proud Antipoleño. Ipinagmamalaki po namin kayo Antipolo Pilgrims. Keep striving for the best and continue to inspire others. Congratulations po Governor Nina Ynares for another successful basketball tourney!”

Doc Monte and the San Jose SK support sports activities because sports activities like basketball tournaments help the youth, especially students, by teaching life skills such as teamwork, leadership, accountability, patience, and self-confidence. Sports prepare them to face life challenges. They get a chance to work on their physical and mental abilities to achieve goals in their life.

Sports is picked up by many in their youth but it is something that is important for everyone even as they grow older and become more mature.

Engaging in physical activities like sports improves your heart function, reduces your risk of diabetes, controls blood sugar, and lowers tension and stress levels. It also brings positive energy, discipline, and other commendable qualities to your life.
