Pursuant to Proclamation No. 227 series of 1988 stating the observance of the month of March as Women’s Role in History month, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Rizal Provincial Statistical Office under the lead of Chief Statistical Specialist Yra B. Sibug joined the nation in the 2023 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) with the theme “WE for gender equality and inclusive society”.
The 2023 NWMC marks a juncture in the advancement of women’s rights as it launches a new recurring theme from this year to 2028: WE for gender equality and inclusive society. It sparks a renewed commitment to the advocacy and banks on the gains achieved during the 2016-2022 theme, WE Make CHANGE Work for Women, which emphasized the need for compassionate and harmonized networks towards gender equality and women’s empowerment.
As enjoined by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), PSA-Rizal conceptualized activities in line with the 2023 NWMC. To kick off the celebration, an opening ceremony was held last March 1, 2023 at Rizal Provincial Statistical Office and it was attended by all staff and employees.
Further, PSA-Rizal through its Gender and Development Committee initiated the giving of alcohol spray bottles and face masks to female clients as a simple token of appreciation during the National Women’s Day last March 8, 2023.
Other activities lined-up to be conducted during the month are using of All-Women Cast Lupang Hinirang Video on Flag Ceremonies, wearing of anything purple on all the Wednesdays of March, displaying of banner of support, posting online or onsite of statistical information materials on gender statistics which highlights the role of women in the pursuit of gender equality and development, participating in the GAD Sensitivity and Gender Fair Language Training, and support to PCW’s online advocacy and activities.
PSA-Rizal supports NWMC with hope and ambition that WE are all for Gender Equality, WE are all for an inclusive society.
