Barangay San Jose Sangguniang Kabataan, led by SK Chairman Monte Tolentino, gave Junior Powerlifter Aeron Paul Casamayor financial assistance to help him participate in a powerlifting competition in Dubai.
San Jose SK adviser Rey Rivera, in behalf of SK Chairman Tolentino, handed the financial assistance to Casamayor at the SK office at the Barangay San Jose Hall.
Casamayor – a resident of St. Carl Manors Subdivision, Barangay San Jose – is the top male junior powerlifter in 53 kg in the Philippines and in Asia. He is the second ranked male powerlifter in the world in the 53 kg Juniors Division. He trails Joby Truong of the USA in the world rankings.
Casamayor started competing in 2016 and joined the Philippine team in 2018. He won two golds, two silvers and two bronzes from the Asian Powerlifting Championships held in India in 2018 and Gold Coast Australia in 2019.
Casamayor will compete in the Asian Classic Powerlifting Championship to be held December 1 to 7, 2022 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
“Sana makalaro ako. Iba ang feeling naming mga atleta once naririnig namin ang Pambansang Awit ng Pilipinas sa international competition. Iba ang dating sa amin,” he said in a recent interview.
Casamayor is just the latest youth helped by Barangay San Jose SK led by Tolentino.
