Konsi Bobot Marquez joined officials of the Department of Agriculture as well as local government officials of Barangay Calawis – led by Punong Barangay Allan Abonio – during the distribution of Agricultural Interventions to the beneficiaries of the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-Asa (BP2) Program at the Multi-Purpose Covered Court of Barangay Calawis, Antipolo City.
The program is geared towards addressing Metro Manila’s congested urban areas by encouraging people, especially informal settlers to return to their home provinces.
The program strives to assist them in this transition with support and incentives on transportation, family, livelihood, housing, subsistence and education, among others.
The Balik Probinsya program was originally proposed by Senator Bong Go who touted the program as a platform to give a “fresh start” to people after the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing a series of programs to help develop the quality of life in the rural areas, in effect decongesting densely populated areas.
The BP2 program is not limited to sending willing and eligible families back to their provinces. As a standard part of the program, family-beneficiaries receive transportation and relocation assistance which ranges from P3,000.00 to P35,000.00.
The program aims to provide hope for a better future to Filipinos through equity in resources throughout the country that will boost countryside development.
