The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Science and Technology Information Institute (STII) through the DOST-Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) Rizal launched the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS) at San Jose National High School (NHS) Antipolo, Rizal.

The orientation symposium was attended by key officials of the institution alongside their Science and Technology Junior High School students.

In her message, Anna Lyn Raymundo, Principal IV of San Jose NHS emphasized how DOST-STARBOOKS will benefit and cater to more than 8000 students on developing their S&T research-based initiatives.

Maricar Q. Semana, LRMDS Coordinator of San Jose NHS, added that in alignment with the DepEd Order No. 76 s. 2011, which calls for the improvement of every school’s learning management processes by providing quality and relevant learning resources, this S&T intervention will be opening avenues for their learners to adapt to emerging technology-based education.

Next, Jennefer Jeazon Medina, Science Research Specialist II of DOST-PSTO Rizal, briefed on the modules and topics included under the STARBOOKS technology.

This was followed by a demonstration which allowed students to immerse themselves in the kiosks and application linked to STARBOOKS. Engr. Trinidad Sager, Science Research Specialist II of DOST-PSTO Rizal, then highlighted that STARBOOKS is a great way to minimize the learning management processes in libraries and schools and encouraged the students to fully maximize the technology provided.

Finally, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to formally turnover the DOST-STARBOOKS technology. Stakeholders and DOST-PSTO Rizal are hoping for more collaborative partnerships in improving educational aspects through S&T interventions.
