Barangay San Jose SK Chairman Doc Monte Tolentino congratulated organizers of Sitio Calumpang 3X3 basketball tournament for a successful competition.

“Ang sabi ni Michael Jordan: ‘Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.’ With that, binabati po natin ang mga nanalo sa Sitio Calumpang 3v3 Basketball Tournament,” said Doc Monte in his Facebook page.

The 3X3 basketball tournament is a variation of basketball played by three players per team with just one ringand backboard in a half-court set up. This hoop competition is the largest urban team sport in the world.

“Nakakamangha pong panuorin ang ipinakita ninyong skills, dedikasyon, at teamwork sa kumpetisyon. Congrats at thank you din sa lahat ng lumahok na kabataan,” said Doc Monte.

“Job well done sa mga organizers ng tournament na sina Jess Malasarte at Dave Maligaya. ‘Di lang po entertaining ang kumpetisyong ito, nakatulong ding hikayatin ang mga kabataan na magkaroon ng active lifestyle.”

The primary competition for 3X3 basketball is the annual FIBA 3X3 World Tour comprising a series of Masters and one Final tournament, and awarding six-figure prize money in US dollars.

This basketball format has been long played in streets and gyms across the world, although in a less formal way.
