Barangay San Jose Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman Doc Monte Tolentino led the launch of the 1st SK Chairman Doc Monte Tolentino Dart Tournament held Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the Ka Rex Dart House at C. Lawis, Barangay Dela Paz, Antipolo City.

Doc Monte said the activity is in line with SK San Jose’s thrust to support not just the youth of Barangay San Jose but all of its sports activities as well.

“Bilang sports committee ng Barangay San Jose pinapahalagahan po natin lahat ng sports, hindi lang basketball at volleyball. Kaya sinusuportahanp natin ang mga kabataan na sumasali sa iba pang sport na pwede natin ipagmalaki,” said Doc Monte.

The tournament had a prize pot of ₱10,000 with ₱4,200 going to the champion. Second placer gets ₱2,200 with third and fourth placers getting ₱1,000. Fifth to eighth placers each get ₱400.

Entry fee was ₱120 with dozens of dart enthusiasts from all over Antipolo City – among them nationally ranked dart player Nap Esperas – joining the tournament.

The format was best of five, 501 double out. Registration started at 6 PM with the tournament proper starting at 8 PM promptly.

Dart is among the most popular participation sport in Antipolo. Double out means completing the total number 501 by hitting the double ring of a number.
