The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Rizal Provincial Statistical Office spearheaded by the Chief Statistical Specialist Yra B. Sibug hosted an online forum to address concerns of establishments on the Philippine Identification (PhilID) in the province. The virtual event titled “Orientation on National ID, a Valid Proof of Identity” was conducted via zoom videoconferencing.

Representatives from different establishments/commercial businesses in the province of Rizal were present at the said event along with the PhilSys Focal Person Richiegold M. Varca, Information System Analysts David L. Tan and Andrey Rolan D. Espadilla, and PhilSys Registration Center Supervisors.

It was the very first online forum organized by the provincial office that focused on the concerns on the national ID. The orientation was an opportunity to address complaints and feedbacks regarding the use of national IDs for transaction purposes and respond to queries on the “no specimen signature” issue raised by the participating establishments.

Oliver P. Chancoco, PhilID Advocate from the PhilSys Registry Office of the PSA, commended the effort of the provincial office for holding such event that served as platform to clarify matters pertaining to the national ID.

To verify information contained in the QR code found at the back of a PhilID card, the PSA developed authentication system called as PhilSys Check. It is a website that uses public-private key cryptography which enables relying parties to verify the authenticity of a PhilID card and the data stored in its QR code. The use of PhilSys check is free and is available to the public and all PhilSys relying parties through the website https: verify.philsys.gov.ph.
