The Department of Health reported the Philippines reached another milestone during this pandemic with a record high 26,303 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

This is the highest number of new infections in a day since the pandemic hit the country last year.

The number hiked the total number of COVID cases to 2,206,021, with 8.4 percent or 185,706 still active, according to the DOH.

Fortunately, 85.3 percent of the active cases are experiencing mild symptoms with 10.2 percent asymptomatic and 2.56 percent in moderate condition. Only 0.6 percent are critical and 1.3 percent are severe,

“Out of the 26,303 new cases for Sept. 11, 1,608 were cases which should be included in our Sept. 10 topline numbers. The other 24,695 are actual cases to be reported for Sept. 11,” said the DOH.

“For cases in NCR (National Capital Region), of the 9,061 total cases reported today, 447 should have been reported for September 10.”

The Health department reported that 79 more people have died which hiked the death toll to 34,978, which is equivalent to 1.59 percent of the country’s total COVID-19 cases.

Some good news: the number of recoveries increased by 16,013 to 1,985,337, which is 90.0 percent of the nationwide case tally.

With the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) unable to resolve some technical issues, the DOH said there are COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) data not yet included and remain unavailable for extraction.

“This has led to some delays in inclusion of new data for cases, deaths, and recoveries. The DICT is continuing their investigation,” said the DOH.

“While we await full resolution of this issue, we may observe some delays in inclusion of some data in our topline numbers in the coming days but we are managing this by generating data from CDRS and submitted line lists by our disease reporting units.”

The intensive care unit (ICU) beds occupancy rate in the country was at 76 percent as of date according to the DOH. Sixty eight percent of the country’s total isolation beds were utilized, 73 percent of the ward beds were occupied, while 56 percent of the total number of ventilators were in use.
